Abstract

Plants are the foundation of life on Earth, playing essential roles in ecosystems, agriculture, and human well-being. They provide food, oxygen, raw materials, and a wealth of bioactive compounds that sustain health, drive industry, and promote environmental stability. The study of plants encompassing molecular, physiological, developmental, ecological, and biotechnological dimensions continues to illuminate the intricate mechanisms that sustain life and adapt to global challenges such as climate change, food security, and sustainable development. In recent decades, plant biology has advanced at an extraordinary pace. Technological advances in genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and genome editing have transformed our understanding of plant systems. These innovations have enabled the deciphering of complex regulatory networks underlying plant growth, stress responses, and productivity, while also empowering the development of crops with enhanced resilience and nutritional value. Yet, despite the rapid expansion of plant research, there remains a continuous need for accessible, open platforms that disseminate high-quality, peer-reviewed discoveries to a global audience. To address this need, Trends in Plant Biology (TPB) was launched as an international, open-access, online-only journal devoted to publishing cutting-edge research and thought-provoking insights across all areas of plant science. Our mission is to bridge the gap between fundamental research and applied research, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration among scientists worldwide.....
